Rewires

Thinking about a rewire?

It is the biggest job in the house and the one nobody can ever get a straight price for. Tell us about the property, how many bedrooms, and whether you will be living in it while it is done, and you get a realistic range in about a minute.

  • Made good behind us, not left for someone else

How the price is worked out

Ryan walks the house, then puts it in writing.

Answer a few questions here and the whole job goes to him: the property, how the cable is run, how many points, and whether you are living in it.

Recent work

We film nearly every job.

Which is useful, because you can watch the standard before you commit to anything. Every clip is a real job of ours, posted as we did it.

Meet Ryan

The person who prices it is the person who fits it.

RM Electrical is Ryan and his apprentice. He went self employed at 22 and has run his own books ever since, working across South Wales. NAPIT registered, and inspected every year.

No call centre, and no subcontractor you have never met. The person who prices your job is the person who turns up to do it, and you will know his name before he knocks the door.

Straight answers

The things people ask first.

Mostly about money, which is fair enough. Here are the numbers Ryan works to, and what moves them.

01
How much does a full rewire cost?
Rewires start from £4,000 + VAT (£4,800 inc VAT). Where yours lands depends on the size of the house, how the cable is run and whether you are living in it while the work is done. Answer a few questions on the rewire page and the whole job comes straight to Ryan, who prices it after seeing the property.
02
How much is a new fuse board?
From £600 + VAT (£720 inc VAT) for a straight swap where the wiring behind it is sound, and it is usually a day. If the circuits need work first you are told before anything starts, not halfway through. Send a photo of your board and Ryan will price it.
03
How much to install an EV charger?
From £850 + VAT (£1,020 inc VAT) for an untethered 7kW charger, £950 + VAT (£1,140 inc VAT) tethered, and £1,050 + VAT (£1,260 inc VAT) for a solar-diverting one. That is the charger, its own circuit and up to ten metres of cable. A long run, a detached garage or a board that needs replacing first all add to it, which is why nothing is ordered before the job has been looked at.
04
Can I get a price without someone coming out?
Usually, yes. Tell us the job and a bit about the property and you will get a realistic range. Sending a photo of your board, or the spot the charger needs to go, lets us tighten that to a firm figure, but you do not need one to get started.
05
Are you actually qualified?
NAPIT registered, number 73512, and inspected every year. Every job leaves with its certificate.
06
Which areas do you cover?
Based in Pontyclun, covering Llanharan, Llantrisant, Pontypridd and the Rhondda, out to Cardiff, Barry and Penarth. If you are on the edge of it, ask, because it often depends what the job is.
